From hypertext and social networks to the 3D worlds of video games and virtual reality, we wander and explore realities paralleling — and mirroring — our own. Often this engagement occurs through frameworks of interaction and play. In 2022, this roundtable series brought together a group of specialists to discuss the futures of virtual media and care infrastructure.

Making Anime in Latin America - workshop organizer

Continuing to support Latin American creators, I organized a workshop with Pablo Monreal, an anime producer from Chile. The event was sponsored primarily by the Spanish, Italian, and Portuguese Graduate Student Organization. Additional sponsors include the University Park Allocation Committee, the Department of Comparative Literature, and the Liberal Arts Collective.

Mentoring for the Future of Literary Studies - summer program leader

The goal of this program is to diversify the pool of applicants to graduate education programs in literature and its associated fields. The program serves primarily for BIPOC scholars and applicants from disadvantaged communities. I am among the main organizers for the 2021 program.

A Comics Talk with Maliki - guest talk organizer

In support of the celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month in State College, PA, I invited the comics artist Marcela Trujillo to give a guest talk on the experience of making autobiographical comics as a Latin American living in the United States. The talk welcomed an international audience, as it was offered via Zoom.
